It's so huge that just across the horizontal cross, 2 cars could drive on either side.
Although its beautiful many people hate this place because they consider it to be a place to worship Franco. He too is buried within the actual basilica church. The paintings inside were mixed with religious depictions as well as images of war. Cannons, certain people going to heaven, others going to hell. Slightly creepy to be able to walk over his grave. There are still services held at the church.
This is a panoramic view of the outside of the church. And below is where you can get a better idea of how beautiful and intricate the church is. It was built buy prisoners of war that Franco captured.Next we went to the town of Segovia were the ancient aqueduct is still standing.
Next we took a walking tour throughout the ancient city and here are some of the sites.
Below is the cathedral. How pretty!!!
I'm obsessed with the tile throughout.
When we returned my friend Megan and I went to the Reina Sofia and saw the Dali exhibit. It took FOREVER but it was really cool to see. So far the emphasis on art and culture in Spain is what I appreciate most. Everyone seems to really know their history, their art, and their culture. i
It was even made clearer based on the line that we waited in for 2 hours.
